When Chè applied for Hous Foundation support for her two sons’ baseball expenses, she wrote, “Ledgyn (age 12) has played for the past five years. Logyn (age 6) is finally able to play ball with his brother and really is excited about this year being the year.”
The Hous Foundation was able to cover participation fees for both Chè’s sons. At the end of the season, Chè shared that she saw a lot of growth in Logyn.
“He grew to be good at sharing and worked well with the team. He made many friends and built relationships with kids from his school,” she said. “There was a sense of community for him, a lot of camaraderie.”
In terms of baseball, Logyn loved hitting the ball and catching the ball. “I would try to hit it so far that it would go to the outfield so I could have a homerun.” He also loved catching the ball when someone hit it really far.
For Ledgyn, this was his sixth year playing baseball. His favorite position is second base, but this season, he was thrilled to try pitching, too.
The Hous Foundation recognizes the long-lasting benefits of participating on a team and trying new things – like pitching. We also recognize how busy parents can be. So, we keep our process as simple as possible.
We asked Chè about her experience with the Hous Foundation. She wrote, “Working with the Hous Foundation was one of the easiest processes that I’ve done. I was able to talk with a live person. There were fast responses to my email requests and things were taken care of before deadlines and cutoff times."
She added that being a single mother and working sometimes takes a toll on her, "especially with multiple kids in sports. The Hous Foundation was able to relieve one of my burdens and helped my family tremendously.”
While Ledgyn will play on his school’s football team this fall, Logyn will return to the baseball diamond. The Hous Foundation is excited to support him in his fall season!
