Your child may qualify if they:

Are 5–18 years old

Live in the communities we serve (Central Ohio and Maryland)

Come from a family that needs financial help
-
Want to join an organized activity
What the Scholarship Helps Pay For
The scholarship may help cover costs for:

Sports and recreation programs
-
Music, art, dance, or theater classes
-
Coding, STEM, and learning programs
-
Camps, clubs, and similar activities
-
Some equipment needs
Payments are made directly to the program, not to families.
Average scholarship amounts are $200 - $500 per child per year.
What the Scholarship Does Not Cover

School tuition or required tutoring
-
Personal items not needed for the activity

Cash payments to families
How to Apply

A parent or guardian must apply for the child.

Applications are reviewed on the 15th of each month, as long as funds are available.

You will be asked for basic information about your child, your family, and the activity.

Monthly timeline:

Applications are due on the 15th.​

Notification will be made to applicants by the 21st.

Payment will be made to vendors by the last day of the month.

Example: If your child wants to take an art class in May that has a May 10 payment deadline, please apply by April 15. We will notify you by April 21. We will make payment to the art school on April 30.

How Scholarships Are Chosen

Scholarships are given based on financial need and available funding.

Each application is reviewed by at least two people.

The amount given depends on the cost of the activity and available funds.
Important Things to Know

Scholarships are not guaranteed.

Families must apply again for each activity or season.

It is important to plan ahead. Payments will be made by the end of the month in which you apply.

Funding is limited, so not all applications will be approved.

Children of Hous Foundation board members or staff cannot receive scholarships.
